Adras House is complex located in the private house of master Ibrohimjon Askarov, a hereditary silk weaver from Margilan.
When visiting Adras House one can find all the processes of the labor consuming craft of ikat (tie dye) weaving of the traditional Uzbek cloth like margilan silk, adras, atlas, bekasam, alo bakhmal (royal velvet).
Tie dye technique («abr-band» in Uzbek) is a method of step-by-step dyeing of the warp threads before weaving. This is a traditional way of silk cloth production that includes entirely manual work. Askarovs family use only natural dyers, color fixation that permits machine wash without any harm to the cloth pattern and quality. Hereditary weavers pass their secrets from generation to generation. That allows contemporary representatives of the dynasty revive antique patterns, original techniques, so does Ibrohimjon. Old designs inspire for new ones with its own symbolic meaning; the contribution of Master into development of the traditional national craft is awarded with several diplomas and certificates.
Adras House possess gallery-and-shop with ready silk, adras and velvet; the workshops for silk weaving; neat yard with tandir (clay oven) where bread and somsa (meat pies) are baked.
